About a month ago, I clicked on a link that I believe infected my PC. I was getting a lot of redirects in my browser and I noticed two suspicious Chrome extensions downloaded without my knowing. I removed them then ran Malwarebytes and deleted 12 PUP files which Malwarebytes said was a browser hijacker. I disabled sync in Chrome, uninstalled and then reinstalled it. I formatted my PC just to be sure everything was gone.
After I did this, I logged into my OneDrive on my PC and I think I may have reinfected myself this way since my old wallpaper came back up and my old files returned. I was watching Hulu one day and the browser was alerting me that my connection wasn’t secure which I thought was strange. I then noticed browser history that wasn’t mine. Really freaked me out and I formatted a second time.
I switched to Edge browser on my PC and I noticed there was a search suggestion for Microsoft remote connect. Also, on my mobile Safari/Google browser I’m seeing search suggestions that are full on websites that I’ve never visited. I’m not sure if this is actual browser history or if I’m being overly paranoid.
Needless to say, I have changed all my passwords on a separate device and enabled 2 factor where possible. Just looking for some insight into this.
